UW-Extension is a member of the newly formed Entrepreneurial Development System called IGNITE!, a group of local business development organizations better aligning services to serve start-ups and innovators.
To inform how IGNITE! can better serve minority entrepreneurs, Diana Hammer Tscheschlok will be interviewing and surveying African-American, Asian, Latino, Native American, and immigrant business owners in the county.
At least 20 interviews will be conducted this fall in English and Spanish asking about business owners’:
- experiences starting and running a business here,
- barriers and successes they’ve encountered,
- what educational programs or services, if any, would best support their ongoing success.
Participants’ identities and individual responses will be kept confidential.
Business development professionals and community educators will use the results to better inform their work with aspiring entrepreneurs and recent start-ups. Results should be available to the public in January 2015.
